Climbing mountains and employing a sherpa go hand-in-hand.
Looking back over history, the selfless lives of mountain sherpas are one of the best examples of "servant leadership". Servant leaders provide committed effort even if the going gets tough. They provide guidance. They don't just tell you what to do, they do it along with you. They motivate, they inspire, they challenge you. They prepare you and coach you to be all that you can be on your journey.
You might say that sherpas actually climb the mountain twice. They prep the way in advance — First they find the best path to climb the slope and secure the ropes. They break up any ice to make the trail ahead safer. They find the place for a camp and set up the tents, and then they go back and bring the climber up. The sherpas help carry the load of their travelers while also navigating the arduous trail and surveying every step ahead. They challenge the traveler to keep pace while being an example, themselves, of how the pace should be kept and maintained. They make sure the traveler does several acclimatization climbs to higher camps and back to base, before taking on the final ascent to the summit. It's all about being as prepared for the journey as possible. It's never a bold sprint to the top. There's a path to be followed, one small sure step after another that ends up taking the daring climber to the top.
